Conventions used in this guide

There are some conventions we use in this guide, that you should know about.

Words from the screen

We use this font to show words that appear on the screen, such as in menus (see Menu choices below), or as the title of a panel, or on buttons. For example:

• 'Use the Save panel to save the file.'

• 'Click on the OK button to save the file, or on the Cancel button if you don't want to save the file.'

Menu choices

We use this font to describe menu choices, showing all the menu items you need to traverse. For example:

• 'Choose Print' means to choose Print from the application's main menu

• 'Choose Edit > Copy' means to choose Edit from the application's main menu, and then to choose Copy from the sub-menu that appears.

Icons that have no name

We use this font to refer to items that appear on the screen but that don't have any text - such as an icon. For example:

• 'Click on the pencil tool in the main toolbox.'

Emphasis

We use this font to emphasize important points. For example:

• 'To keep your changes, you must save your work before quitting.'

New terminology

We use this font to introduce new terminology. For example:

• 'The computer's hard disk provides permanent storage for your work.'

References

We use this font to refer to other parts of this guide, or to other publications. For example:

• 'See the Animo 2.0 User's Guide for more details.'
